Our periodontal practice is seeking a reliable, organized, and patient‑focused Front Office / Dental Assistant to join our team. This hybrid role is primarily front office but includes assisting clinical staff as needed. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, communicates professionally, and enjoys being a key part of a small, supportive team.
Pay: $15–$19 per hour (based on experience; negotiable)
Schedule:
- Guaranteed: Tuesday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
- Optional/Flexible: Mondays (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) and Fridays (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM)
Primary Front Office Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize patient charts and office records
- Answer incoming calls with professional phone etiquette
- Manage daily schedule:
- Schedule new and returning patients
- Assist with rescheduling and cancellations
- Fill open appointment slots efficiently
- Send correspondence via fax, email, and mail
- Perform patient check‑in and check‑out procedures
- Multi‑task effectively while maintaining accuracy
- Use Microsoft Word for letters, forms, and documentation
- Navigate computer systems confidently and efficiently; comfortable learning new software
- Communicate clearly with patients about periodontal procedures and office policies
- Follow established SOPs with consistency
- Apply working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA standards
- Handle cash transactions, including:
- Collecting patient payments
- Preparing end‑of‑day deposit materials (no deposit drop‑off required)
- Managing petty cash accurately
- Preferred: Experience with Dentrix practice management software
- Preferred: Experience with CareStream Dental imaging software
- Preferred: Insurance experience, including:
- Eligibility and benefit verification
- Claims management and follow‑up
Back Office / Clinical Support Responsibilities
(As needed and when covering for senior dental assistant)
- Assist doctor, hygienists, and senior assistant during patient care
- Turn over operatories and maintain cleanliness between patients
- Perform sterilization and instrument processing procedures
- Take digital dental X‑rays and intra‑oral photographs
- Submit prescriptions electronically
- Support typical periodontal assisting duties
- Maintain a safe and compliant clinical environment
Required Certifications (may obtain after start date):
- CPR certification
- X‑ray certification
